2021 Vision

Hello and welcome to! I'm Lori Nanan and if you are reading this I am absolutely thrilled that you were here! I have been blogging for years, but I haven't blogged personally on a consistent basis in a really long time. Most of my writing has centered around my former career which was in dog training, and you'll find some of my old dog training blogs here because I think that they still have value, despite the fact that I am no longer in the field.

You will also find some blogs that I moved over from an old Medium account. From that account I chose blogs that were the most meaningful to me. But, beginning today it's all new material all the time! I've started in Instagram account called, where I'll be doing live videos and IGTV, as well as sharing some graphics and the good ol' inspirational quotes that some of us are so fond of. 🤷🏼‍♀️Inspirational quotes are inspirational for reason. They speak to our soul, they speak to our spirits, they speak to the self that we aspire to be. And that's what Plentiful Joy is all about-becoming the self that you want to be.

I make no claims to be an expert or to have figured everything out. Quite the opposite, actually! The older I get the more I realize I have so much to learn. And the older I get the more okay with that I am. That feels so good. Knowing that I don't know everything....that I'm not supposed to have everything figured out is so incredibly freeing. And I hope that you will join me on my journey and share yours along the way as well.

My big hope for Plentiful Joy is that a community is created where people feel free and safe to share their struggles and their joy. It's always been really important for me that people know they are not alone. That's a very personal thing for me and is something that I will share more about along the way. I do plan on getting down and dirty personal, because I feel that it's important to share our most authentic selves if we are going to share our aspirational and inspirational selves with others. No one is perfect, no one has the perfect life, no one has it all figured out. But being open to kind of... letting it all hang out sometimes is one of the things on the path to getting closer and closer to your greater good and your best self. Authenticity is super important to me, and I promise to not gloss over the tough stuff on this journey...wherever it may take me.

Today is January 1, 2021, and though I don't believe that the changing of the calendar automatically washes everything from the past year away, I do believe that it gives us the chance to make a fresh start. For me that means completely letting go of my former career, letting go of many of the relationships established along the way in that career. It means moving to a new house and making a fresh start with my husband and the animals that we share our lives with. It means hope for a future that's better than I could've imagined....well, better than 2020 at any rate! The start of a new year gives us the opportunity to reflect. What I discovered in my reflecting over the last few weeks is that I deserve better than I allowed myself to have in the past. I have recognized the types of relationships that caused me the most problems. And I have committed to learning how to make better choices in my relationships going forward. That's as close to a New Year's resolution as I'm willing to get...well, that and adding more yoga to my daily routine. 🧘🏼‍♀️

So welcome again to Plentiful Joy. I hope that you see yourself in some of what I share and that you will be comforted by that and perhaps share some of yourself along the way as well. Happy New Year and here's to 2021 vision!
